RFL captains’ meeting set for Feb. 10
Interested in sponsoring a team at the 2004 Relay For Life in Baldwin County? Come to the second team captains’ meeting Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at Georgia Military College.
“Team captain meetings are a way to get hints and advice on having a successful team for Relay,” said Susan Brooks, co-chair of the event for the second year. “We want to encourage everyone who wants to have a team to come to this meeting and get a packet. There’s really only a short time left before we’re on the track this year.”
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature event in the fight against all types of cancer. This year’s Relay For Life is scheduled for April 16 and 17 at Walter B. Williams Park in Milledgeville.
“We had our first meeting in January, and we had a great turnout,” Brooks said. “At the second meeting, we talk more about logistics, about other ways to get involved in Relay. We want to invite in-kind or corporate sponsors. We have opportunities for corporate sponsorships, both through cash donations and in-kind contributions. We have a large goal in front of us, and I know we can do it.”
“Feb. 10 is also Relay For Life Spirit Day,” Brooks said.
“We encourage everyone involved in Relay For Life to dress in Relay regalia that day,” she said. “We want people in Milledgeville to know that Relay is coming!”
This year’s theme is “Relay Around the World,” and plans are underway for a special “international surprise,” co-chair Ginger Carter said.
“We’ll have some information at the team captain meeting about an exciting opportunity for our relay,” Carter said. “There’s a really exciting opportunity on the horizon for us in Milledgeville.”
