Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

On Nov. 20, we had 56 participants in our first annual Cold Turkey Day here on the campus of Georgia College & State University. I’m happy to announce that eight of those individuals have been confirmed SMOKE-FREE! They made the commitment to put down their cigarettes for good! All participants in Cold Turkey Day were given “Cold Turkey Coupons,” which were redeemable at several local sandwich shops. These local eateries have made a commitment to providing smoke-free environments for their patrons. Our thanks go out to Subway, Goodie Gallery and KenLeigh’s.
If you missed the chance to participate in Cold Turkey Day, that doesn’t mean your opportunity is gone! It’s a New Year, and the Cold Turkey won’t lie down. That’s because if you’re a smoker, any day is a good day to quit. How about today? Sounds like a great idea! You could throw your remaining cigarettes away and begin a healthier life this very minute! Won’t you PLEASE consider it?
