Leland named on Georgia Chamber Board of Directors

Dr. Dorothy Leland, president of Georgia College & State University, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Leland began her tenure as the 10th president of GC&SU on Jan. 1.
Leland said she hopes her tenure on the board will strengthen the innovative Georgia Education Mentorship program. Funded by a grant from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, GEM is a partnership between GC&SU and the chamber in which high-achieving students are paired with a chamber board member for a semester-long mentoring program designed to foster leadership skills.
Leland was a member of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, Palm Beach Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Boca Raton Women for Excellence and is a member of a number of professional organizations, including American Association of Higher Education, Society for College and University Planning, American Association of University Women and American Philosophical Association.
The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is the grassroots voice of business, which vigorously represents its diverse membership of more than 3,300 in the policy-making arenas of state government.
