Who killed Kenny? Student writers weigh in.
Editor’s note: Mediafest 2003 was held at Georgia College & State University, Wednesday, Nov. 12. Students from 10 high schools around the state visited the campus to learn about the Mass Communication program and to hear speakers from a variety of areas the field encompasses.
Students visited The Colonnade for a session at which they wrote mock stories. The stories placed below are fictional stories the students wrote based on a fictional scenario that they were given in which the school mascot was responsible for the murder of Kenny from South Park. The Colonnade is proud to show off the skills of these future reporters.

Last night at about 9:30, Kenny Smith was murdered on top of a four story Atkinson building.
Authorities claim he was painting a poster for one of his classes. One of his fellow students, Billy the Bobcat, pushed him off the edge, killing him instantly. Officials Ryan Schomber and Leah Stanley have only given vague details of the incident.
The information tells us that Billy Bob Cat had not even begun his project for the class. At the moment, he is in custody and awaiting trial. This is not the first time Billy has committed a crime. He has a long history of improper conduct.
The trial date is on Saturday, January 3. More information about this incident will be given later.

Last night at approximately 9:30 p.m., Ryan Schomber saw 19-year-old Kenny Smith fall from the roof of the Atkinson Building and die instantly. Schomber, realizing that Kenny could not be saved, attempted to find out who was responsible for this heinous crime. The only person, or animal, to be seen was Billy the Bobcat, the campus mascot at Georgia College & State University.
According to police reports, Kenny was painting a poster for his Art 1201 class, and climbed to the top of the Atkinson Building to become more “at one with nature.” Billy the Bobcat, however, was under the impression that he was working with Kenny and was greatly angered when Kenny did not consult him about the project. The poster is currently under investigation at the Baldwin County Crime Lab.
While no one actually saw Billy push Kenny, he is the prime suspect. Sheriff Leah Stanley, the officer in charge of this investigation, said, “Billy has a history. Obviously, we will have to investigate further, but he is our prime suspect.”
Charges have not been pressed due to lack of evidence, and Brad Johnson, Billy’s attorney, is confident that none will be pressed. “Billy is a docile cat. He would not hurt a soul,” he claims.
There will be more information available on a later date.

Kenny Smith, the beloved 19-year-old character of South Park, was tragically murdered last night by Georgia College & State University mascot, Billy the Bobcat. According to witness Ryan Schomber, Kenny was sitting atop Atkinson Hall (GC&SU’s tallest building) when Billy shoved Kenny from his perch at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Schomber informs us that Kenny felt “in touch” with his inner spirit while atop Atkinson Hall, so he decided to go there to work on an important art project, due the following day. Sources say that Billy and Kenny were fellow students in this particular art class, and that Billy had not yet begun his project.
Sheriff Leah Stanley took Billy into custody; he is being held at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department until his court date on Jan. 7, 2004. Attorney Brad Johnson will be representing Billy after his successful murder trial last year.
Kenny’s body is currently at the Atlanta Morgue. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

A highly famous actor, Kenny Smith, was brutally murdered last night after being pushed from the top of Atkinson Hall.
The culprit for this crime is Billy the Bobcat, a possible repeat offender for murdering classmates. Witness Ryan Schomber made statements this morning proclaiming that Kenny was painting his assignment on the roof of Atkinson Hall by himself around 9:30 p.m. last night. After looking up for just a few seconds, Schomber noticed Billy on top of Atkinson Hall as well. In the blink of an eye, Kenny was lying lifeless on the ground, and Billy was to blame.
After being questioned by the head sheriff of the Milledgeville Police Department, Leah Stanley, Billy stated the motive for the murder. Kenny and Billy were assigned to work on an art project for Art 1201 by Dr. Bob Vila. After several misunderstandings and a massive lack of communication, the two never met to complete the project and Billy was left without the necessary supplies to finish his work.
The Bobcat, who has an explosive temper and a history of similar crimes, is being held in custody at the local Baldwin County Police Department. The body of Kenny Smith has been taken to the Greater Atlanta Area Morgue for reasons undisclosed. Charges have not yet been pressed, but a trial date has been set for Jan. 3, 2004.
The poster is being kept at the police department for further investigation. Billy is being represented by his lawyer, Brad Johnson, who also worked with Billy during his investigation of the murder of Kenny’s twin brother Vinny Smith. Funeral arrangements have not been decided on yet. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the South Park Fund.
