Game cancelled due to lack of players for GMC

The chance for utter domination by the Georgia College & State University Lady Bobcats soccer team over Georgia Military College was squashed when the game was cancelled between the two teams.
The game, set for Nov. 15th, was scratched because of a supposed lack of players on the GMC side. The Bobcats will attempt to schedule a game at the last minute against Georgia Tech before leaving Nov. 19 for the National Intramural Recreational Soccer Association National Tournament held in Tuscaloosa, Al.
The team will be competing in a round robin tournament Nov. 20-22. They will be taking on Louisiana State University, Ohio University, and the University of Colorado (“Black”).
Head Coach Robert Parr believes the team is up to the task.
“We had a really hard week of practice,” said Parr. “Players were tired but I think that was a positive thing because we pushed really, really aggressively to help prepare for the nationals.”
Unfortunately, Starting Goalkeeper Michelle Parr will not be able to play due to eligibility rules. The return of defender Heather Drazdowski will help the lineup following her injury.
“We got Heather back so the full lineup is back, except for Michelle who is not eligible,” said Parr. “So we will have Lauren [Grimes] and Kelli [Murphy] manning the nets again. But at regionals we didn’t have Heather and we felt that loss.”
The Bobcats are not too sure about the quality of the teams that they will be facing.
“Hard to say about competition and who is going to be good,” said Parr. “I would expect that Ohio and LSU are going to be stronger than Colorado “Black.”
Without complete knowledge of their opponents, Parr’s game plan is quite simple.
“We hope that we can go in there and put away LSU and put some wins in,” said Parr. “That’s what we are gunning for.”
The team is going to run the same 4-4-2 (4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 forwards) formation that they have ran all season long. Even with the balanced lineup that Parr has put on the field, he is still anticipating that Tami Pissott, Missy Lewis and Traci Peterson will have big games.
This will be the last year that the team can compete in this tournament. Next year, they will be regulated to Division II status.
