Front campus undergoes construction
The construction on front campus is part of the renovation to improve the on-campus book store, said Kyle Cullars, director of auxiliary services.
The bookstore is currently being renovated and will not re-open until Fall of 2004.
“Our goal is to have the renovated bookstore open for Fall Semester 2004,” said Cullars. “The project currently underway is the initial infrastructure relocation and prep work required for the MSU Bookstore renovation. Water lines, electrical lines, gas lines, etc. are being relocated for the expansion of the patio area (continuation of the existing patio outside Chick-fil-A and the Pit) toward Parks Hall.”
According to Cullars, once the infrastructure changes have been made, work will begin on the building itself (with the addition of a new fa?ade facing front campus to look more like the new Clarke and Hancock Street fa?ades).
The MSU store will undergo an extensive renovation that will include excavating into the hill towards Parks Hall to allow for an expanded patio area and a new fa?ade, facing front campus. The new exterior will look much like the renovated Clarke and Hancock Street fa?ades of the building, and the bookstore will gain large windows and a new entrance.
“The renovated bookstore will be a very nice place for students, faculty and staff,” said Cullars. “The new fa?ade facing front campus will allow the building to blend much better with the traditional, classical architecture of the rest of front campus. It will be a very nice improvement.”
