‘Cats look to end on high notes

‘End of the road – The Georgia College & State University golf team will bring their fall season to a close on November 2-4 in Orlando, Florida. The Bobcats will compete against fellow Peach Belt Conference schools Armstrong Atlantic State and Columbus State in the annual Rollins Invitational. The team is hot on the heels of a seventh place tie last week in the North Shore Tournament, and placed third in the Rollins Invitational last year.

Cross Country
Record setting runners – The Georgia College & State University women’s cross country team finished fifth out of 11 teams with the help of record times from sophomore Crystal Sutton and junior Mandy Alliston at the 2003 Peach Belt Conference Championships held at the Georgia Regional Hospital, last Saturday. The men’s team finished last in a field of eight.
Individual times — With a time of 19:53, Sutton completed the fall season with her fourth record-breaking and second fastest time in school history for a 22nd place finish overall. Alliston crossed the line seconds later with a time of 20:00 for 24th place and the third fastest time in school history. Mindy McCart, Kelley Fleischmann, and Heather Irwin rounded out the top five.
In the men’s 8K, Joe Bence was the Bobcats top finisher in 33rd place with a time of 29:55, while Trey Bailey was 39th at 30:59. Alex Smith was 44th crossed the line at 32:12 with teammate Josh Reed following in 45th place with a time of 34:15. Misha Tenenbaum rounded out the top five for GC&SU in 47th place at 35:31.

Soccer
Bring it on – The Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team hits the road Sunday to take on the Savannah College of Art and Design. GC&SU is now 4-8-1 on the season and is coming off Saturday’s 1-0 win over Clemson at the NIRSA tournament in Columbus.
The Bobcats are led in scoring by Junior Forward Tami Pissott, who has recorded eight goals on the season. GC&SU went 1 and 2 at the NIRSA tournament over the weekend, and the Bobcats hope to get on track as they head into the last few weeks of the season.
