It’s your right to know
When has the phrase fast food become synonymous with ridiculously slow food? Every time I go into Chick-Fil-A for a quick bite it always ends up being a huge production. First, I wait to tell the people who work there what I want, so they can prepare it on the spot. Then I usually wait for the food to be cooked, because there is nothing pre-made in the restaurant, where food is consumed (go figure). The only thing I can get fast is my sweet tea, and that is only because I grab the cup and fill it up myself.
If that is not bad enough and if you haven’t waited in enough lines, try paying for your food in a timely manner. It seems every time I wait even longer to pay. I would think that there would always be an employee at the register willing to take my money, but once again this is not the case. It makes me wonder how many people walk out without buying their food because of the lack of service.
When students or faculty go to Chick-Fil-A they are usually there because there isn’t enough time to go to SAGA, or grab a bite to eat off campus. For those who are trying to hurry to their next class this is an inconvenience they can’t afford. It makes me even more aggravated to go in there for something as simple as a drink and spend ten minutes waiting for someone to ring me up.
I have asked the management why there are always lines during the busiest times of the day. I was given the response that Chick-Fil-A cooks to order so the food will be fresh. My question still stands though, why the lines? If the management knows when the busy times are, which they really should have figured out by now, then they should cook the food for the expected crowds. It’s not a huge secret that there will be people coming in around lunch and dinner time. I can understand if there isn’t food ready at three o’ clock in the afternoon or at eight o’clock at night. However, there is no excuse during prime eating hours and there is a twenty five minute wait. Can’t the Chick-Fil-A employees start cooking fifteen minutes before the crowds so they can get a jump on things? I know it would be easier for everyone and less aggravating and we would be able to actually get fast food when we wanted it.
