Who is Dr. Ginger Carter?

To me, she has been a mentor, a teacher, my mom away from home, a sister and most importantly, a friend.

Three years ago, I came to this college alone, the only student from my graduating class. I had no idea what I wanted to do. She led me to the Colonnade office and began writing articles. Because of her guidance, I found my niche and my future career. I learned so much from her.

In several instances, she has also been a friend especially on Colonnade trips. She was inducted into Gamma Sigma Sigma as an honorary member last fall semester. She cried when she received the honor. She certainly deserved it for all the work that she does for not only Relay for Life but other organizations. Each year she has dedicated herself to Relay for Life especially through Pie in the Professor’s face. That dedication should be recognized. I have enjoyed getting to know her as a sister.

There is another organization that she dedicates herself to: The Colonnade. She has certainly been an incredible advisor, and the new advisor has high standards to live up to. She helped the newspaper mature to what it is today. She has also helped each of the writers become what they are today.

She gave me one of my first nicknames. It is rather special to me. She watched me grow from a lost freshman to determined, thorough news journalist. I know that when I graduate from Georgia College & State University in December, I will be prepared to enter the real world because of her teachings and my internship last summer.

She has certainly created her own legacy in a lot. Not to mention, she is a talented clogger. I enjoyed watching the whole group at Relay for Life. I miss her as she leaves the paper in someone else’s hands. Thank you again. Gamma Sig. love, Erin.
