McVey coming to Max Noah
A world famous performer will be the attraction at Max Noah Recital Hall April 21, 2003.
On Monday, April 21, the pianist, Roger McVey, will perform a standard keyboard repertoire. The concert will take place in the Max Noah Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. and will be free to everyone.
Roger McVey was born in Kansas and grew up in North Carolina. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, New Zealand, Cyprus and New Caledonia. He has performed as a soloist and also as a collaborative artist.
In addition to his busy performing schedule, McVey is an adjunct instructor at Mercer University. He has a bachelor of music degree from East Carolina University, a master of music degree from Indiana University, and is presently completing his doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Kansas.
McVey has studied music with Jack Winerock, Menahem Pressler, Anton Nel and Henry Doskey. He has also performed with artists, such as Claude Frank, Ann Schein, Nelita True, Janos Starker, Yuval Yaron, Erin Rosenblith, Eugene Rousseau, William Warfield and the Emerson Quartet.
McVey has also studied at the Aspen Music Festival and the Chautauque Institute. He is a prize winner in the Naftzger Competition and the Lee Piano Competition.
