Golf team heads to North Carolina

The Georgia College & State University golf team will compete in the 2003 Peach Belt Conference Tournament, beginning this weekend in Lumberton, North Carolina.

The tournament, hosted by University of North Carolina – Pembroke, will showcase eight PBC schools at the Pinecrest Country Club.

GC&SU’s golf team is ranked 23rd in the nation, but they will face stiff competition with four other nationally ranked PBC schools in the tournament. University of South Carolina Aikens is ranked 4th in the nation, Francis Marion is ranked 7th, Kennesaw State is ranked 13th, followed by Armstrong Atlantic State at the 14th spot.

A tournament victory guarantees a spot in the NCAA II Regional Tournament for the sixth consecutive year, and will mark the first conference tournament championship since the 2000 season.
