Temps dip, but Ice Box remains hot
Most people love ice cream.
It’s tasty, comes in a variety of flavors, and can be refreshing on a nice hot day (though most don’t need that excuse to have some). Is there ever really a time when ice cream isn’t a good idea?
If you really like ice cream then nothing is going to keep you away from the occasional indulgence. For some crazy reason though, single digit temperatures seem to turn most people off to a nice cold treat (wimps). The Ice Box apparently sees a dip in sales during the cold weather months here in Milledgeville. Not a huge dip, as some people still stop by now and then, but there are less people rushing through the cold for more cold.
“It’s not just cold weather that affects sales. Any kind of inconvenient conditions will keep people from dropping in for ice cream,” said Donna Deason, the retail manager of The Ice Box. “Sure, they’ll make the trip for some actual food, but they’re unlikely to trek through rain, freezing cold and lots of muddy ground just for ice cream.”
The Ice Box has some particularly good ice cream, keeping up a Baskin ‘n Robins-like tradition with a big selection of very different flavors that change from time to time. The Ice Box uses “Ice Cream Club” ice cream. The Ice Cream Club is a company out of Florida that has seen a lot of success lately, moving into closed down Baskin ‘n Robins facilities. Anyone who’s been to the Ice Box knows that they’ve got more than ice cream. Milkshakes, ice coffees, smoothies and sundaes; there are all kinds of choices, all of them pretty good.
So yeah, it’s a little cold out right now, but these buildings are kept at such extreme temperatures that you’re probably sweating despite the cold. You’ve run out of excuses (unless you’re lactose intolerant) so go get some ice cream.
