“Catch Me if You Can” sizzles in movie theatres

“Catch Me if You Can,” is a far-fetched story based on the life of a famous conman.

Dream Works’ latest production, “Catch Me if You Can,” stars Oscar nominee Leonardo Dicaprio and two time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks. This surreal comedy of a master of deception was produced by none other than the infamous Steven Spielberg. Spielberg has won three Academy Awards for his past work.

The movie is a game of cat and mouse. The conman, Frank W. Abergnale (Leonardo Dicaprio), is a master of deception and brilliant forger. He takes on the life of a co-pilot, a lawyer and a doctor all before his twenty-first birthday. Abergnale if being chased by the FBI agent, Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks). The only problem is that Abergnale is always one step ahead of Hanratty.

The movie takes the audience on the chase of a lifetime. Abergnale poses as a co-pilot to a major airline without any previous flying experience. Walking throughout the airport with a stolen pilot uniform on and thousands of dollars worth of forged checks, Abergnale is on his way. As the movie progresses, Abergnale goes from country to country spreading his forging abilities. The gifted forger that Abergnale becomes causes him to come face to face with Agent Hanratty, and for a split second, the audience thinks Abergnale’s “fun” is over. But, not until he spends some time in the south as a lawyer.

As the movie comes to an end we see that justice may finally take its toll on Frank W. Abergnale. He is sentenced to life, sort of!

The movie’s plot seems a little far-fetched and hard to believe, but believe it. It’s basis on a true story is what allowed the writers to create this fun, yet mind boggling, picture. Leonardo Dicaprio was quoted saying, “Things that happen in real life are sometimes a hundred times more fascinating than anything a person could make up off the top of their head.”

I would definitely recommend “Catch Me if You Can,” to anyone looking for a good movie to go see.
