AIDS awareness week begins Monday

Next week is AIDS Awareness Week at GC&SU, sponsored for the sixth year by the A.N.G.E.L.S. (AIDS Now Grasp Every Living Soul) Foundation, Inc., and, for the second year, planned and implemented by the Campus ANGELS Student Organization.

If you have items that you would like to donate for the Silent Auction, please send an e-mail to Theresa Moore at tmoore99@hotmail.com

Donations can be something you have made or purchased to donate, or something “extra” you have on hand, or a Gift Certificate that you were able to have donated by a local business. All proceeds from the Silent Auction go the A.N.G.E.L.S. Foundation to provide nutritional support for those living with HIV/AIDS in the middle Georgia area and to support education and awareness throughout middle Georgia. The Foundation has non-profit charitable status, so your donations are tax deductible and a receipt for tax purposes will be provided.

If you would like to have a door ribbon for AIDS Awareness week, please send an e-mail to Theresa Moore telling her where you would like the ribbon delivered and how many you
need.

Protect yourself and those you love through education and awareness.

Support those who are living with this disease. If you don’t know of someone who has the AIDS/HIV virus or someone whose life has been touched by HIV/AIDS, people don’t feel comfortable sharing that information with you. Educate yourself and those you love. This is an equal opportunity disease. The greatest rate of infection in this country today is among heterosexual young people between the ages of 17-26, particularly young women, as well as men and women over 65. The disease has become a pandemic that is threatening the social, economic, and political systems of countries around the world. No matter who you are; no matter where you live; no matter what you do: HIV/AIDS affects you.
