Everyone, get ready! Homecoming Week starts very soon! Yep, that’s right. This year’s Homecoming celebration will last an entire week.

Starting Monday, Feb. 17, Homecoming Week will host events every day until the basketball game that Saturday. During that week, students will be campaigning for Mr. and Ms. GC&SU, there will be step show competitions and talent shows, there will be voting for Mr. and Ms. GC&SU and there will be a parade and float competition and a cookout and bonfire–all before the game on Saturday! And this year, the winner of Mr. and Ms. GC&SU won’t be announced until the dance after the homecoming game.

It seems as if a lot of students at Georgia College & State University are always complaining that they’re bored and that there’s nothing to do in Milledgeville. And there are so many students totally lacking in school spirit. (Watch. Those students who complain about how there’s nothing to do probably won’t participate in all the Homecoming events. Isn’t it ironic?)

Homecoming Week will be filled with events–every day, there is something going on. For those of you who often complain about having nothing to do, why don’t you get out and join in on the Homecoming activities and festivities? And for those of you who lack spirit, come on–these are your college years. This is your college. These are the years that you look back and wonder if you made the most of your college experience. You don’t want to look back and think, man, I never went to one basketball game my four years at GC&SU. You don’t want to look back and only be able to recall sitting in your dorm room or your apartment in front of your PlayStation the whole four years, or five years…

Go solo or get a group of friends together and go to these events. Definitely make plans to stay Homecoming weekend and go to the basketball game. If you’ve never been to a GC&SU basketball game, you don’t know what you’re missing. They’re a lot of fun, full of energy and spirit. If you’re lacking school spirit, you should go to the basketball games–they’ll get you revved up.

Go to the dance after the game. When’s the last time you went to a dance? Probably not since high school. So that should be interesting. And when you go to the dance, you’ll be able to find out who’s elected this year’s Mr. and Ms. GC&SU.

Why not cast your vote for Mr. and Ms. GC&SU while you’re on campus that Thursday and Friday of Homecoming Week?

The Colonnade staff encourages all of our readers to get involved in Homecoming Week and have a blast!
