Relationship realities…

“Dream Lover…”

It’s not fair to think that Prince Charming exists. Nor is it fair to think that the damsel in distress you rescued from a lame party last week, could be your Cinderella; however, it is fair to assume that these and other fantasies can come true. But at the root of this lovely imagery, is one burning question. What if the perfect mate that you have spent years dreaming of falls short of your real life expectations? More so, who’s fault is it…yours or theirs?

In this world of nonbelievers, there shines few individuals who amass to all of your wildest dreams; however, they may be off climbing the Rockies’ or studying in London, the point is, in the here and now, you have someone who cares a great deal for you. So why is it that we are just never content? No one ever said that it was wrong to dream up the perfect someone. Truth be told I have a list of what I think he will encompass. From his education to his religious beliefs even down to what I hope is his favorite sport. Now I highly recommend this practice. Write down what you want in the ideal mate. Then hide it. The wonderful thing about life is that it’s unpredictable.

It is wise to have an idea, an image in your head and heart as to what he or she will be like; however, when you are with someone who seems to be a few requirements off the scale, don’t think of it as being the end. Remember that change is good and things do happen for a reason. The point is dreams are our subconscious talking to us. The perfect person is out there. Why? Because usually we set goals too high for them to reach and sometimes, even too high for ourselves.

So come back to the world of reality and take in everything that you see. Your list may need some revision, but consider it a rough draft until you find the real thing. Remember that you can’t rush love, but it can run away from you if you force it. So just relax and who knows, you just might find your happily ever after!
