Shuttle offers free ride
Students, faculty and staff can make the daily struggle of finding a parking place a thing of the past!
One way to save time, money and frustration is to take advantage of the Georgia College & State University shuttle bus. The shuttle bus system has been in place for several years, but many drivers remain in the dark about this convenience each semester.
Commuting GC&SU senior Brock Pike learned of the shuttle bus and began to use it last spring.
“Parking has gotten worse in the past few years, and it caused me to be late to class several times. I figured out that it was a lot easier to park away from campus and ride the shuttle than try for 30 minutes to find a decent parking place,” said Pike.
Students who ride the shuttle bus from the various pick up points are dropped off in front of Maxwell Student Union, within a short walk to any classroom.
Shuttle bus stops include MSU, Centennial Center and the Bobcat Village clubhouse. The shuttle bus runs on a regular schedule in order to provide dependable service to GC&SU students.
Commuting students who drive from cities other than Milledgeville are encouraged to contact the Student Activities Office about carpooling. A ride-share can help students find others with similar schedules who can commute together.
Students living in Bobcat Village have already taken advantage of the shuttle bus.
Sophomore Marie Adams had concerns about commuting when she first moved into her apartment.
“I was worried about the distance from campus at first. When I started riding the shuttle, I knew exactly when I would get to school, and that I wouldn’t be late because I couldn’t find anywhere to park,” said Adams.
By using the shuttle bus or the ride-share program, students can help reduce their early morning stress and the problem of limited parking around the main block of campus.
