Would I lie to you.?

I have always felt that honesty is the best policy. You don’t want to feel like you can never trust someone, and trust is a key element of any relationship. But what happens when the trust is broken and a lie comes to light? If caught in a tough situation where the truth could cause even more problems, should you lie in an attempt to save the relationship?

Now we can all say that men and women lie differently. For obvious reasons I am not going to get into the “who lies more, who lies better” theory; however, feel free to discuss it amongst yourselves. But we do have to look at the rationale of why we do lie?

In simplest forms, a lie is an attempt to cover up an act. One can debate
that doing this recognizes a feeling of guilt and that the lie is in a way a last ditch effort to rectify an internal moral dilemma. Right!

A lie is an easy way of getting out of telling the truth. There is no other way of looking at it; however, there is such a thing as a “good lie.” Now, understand that this defense is to be used as little as possible. If a situation arises where the truth could cause physical or psychological harm, then a little lie will not hurt. But, at our age very few instances like this will ever occur.

An open relationship will save you from potential heartache, so being honest is the only way to keep the relationship open. Ask yourself, what is the good in covering the truth, and if you cannot come up with a reasonable answer, then reconsider your decision.

The golden rule still applies ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ If you know how much it would hurt you to be lied to, then think about the pain that you would possibly be inflicting. Remember, whatever you do in the dark, will always come out in the light.
