Creation vs. Evolution

An upcoming two-day seminar at Georgia College & State University is described by its director as “an attempt to show that science and the bible work together to show where we come from.”

Dr. Bert Thompson, co-founder and executive director of Apologetics Press, spends 40 weekends a year traveling around the country educating seminar participants on the scientific and biblical evidence that proves that in the controversy of Creation vs. Evolution, Creation is the one, true answer.

Thompson’s message, Science and Nature: Two Votes for God consists of interactive messages for all ages followed by a question and answer session.

“Since everyone has an interest in where they come from, I think students would like to hear what Paul Harvey refers to as ‘the rest of the story,’” Thompson said.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, Thompson will begin the seminar by defining both the creation and evolution theories. He said he will use strictly scientific evidence that leads to a creator.

Then, from 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, the topics will include both the scientific and biblical proof of a “Special Creation.”

“On Saturday, I will answer questions like ‘Where do the dinosaurs fit into the creation story?’” Thompson said, adding that he will also address the origins of races, fossil records, the Genesis account of creation and the Bible.

Also on Saturday, Thompson will discuss the idea of “theistic evolution,” the belief that both Creation and Evolution were present in the beginning of man.

Thompson said the debate over creation and evolution has recently been stirred since teachers in Hall County were allowed to begin teaching Creation in the classroom.

“I think people are confused,” said Clyde Boone Jr., an advocate of Thompson and the message of Creation that he brings. ” I think they need to know what’s right.”

Thompson holds a bachelor of science degree in biology and a master of science and Ph.D. in food microbiology. He is a former professor of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University and has worked with Apologetic Press for 25 years.

Apologetic Press is a non-profit publishing company that publishes materials on Christian apologetics, a defense of Christianity.

There is no charge for the event and ample handouts will be provided for participants to study and develop their own opinions.
