And your point is
Wow, what a week! For the first time, (that I can remember) “The Colonnade” came out on Wednesday.
We decided to do this because the staff and I will be attending a conference in Orlando. The conference is set for Oct. 30 through Nov. 3.
A week ago from today, Kent (ad manager) and I were walking to Dr. Ginger Carter’s office when Ms. Susan Westfall asked what day is the paper going to come out, or will there not even be a paper. Then she suggested the idea of getting the paper done and having it ready Wednesday morning before we leave. Kent and I thought that the idea wasn’t actually that far fetched. So after coming back to “The Colonnade” and speaking to everyone on staff, we thought that it would be better to get the paper done and ready for the readers on Wednesday instead of Friday.
I really am going to enjoy this. For the first time, this feels like “The Colonnade” is a paper that comes out twice a week.
The staff and I will be working basically all day (and all night, for that matter) on Monday to get the paper done by Tuesday morning. So this should be very interesting to see how everyone on staff reacts to the added pressures. Everyone did such an outstanding job. (If you weren’t reading this right now then somebody could not get their section done and then the paper would have some problems). Again, all ‘The Colonnade’ editors on staff have done a great job, so this really was a piece of cake.
I want to be a great journalist when I get older and something such as havingshorter deadlines puts your qualifications to the test. This is so exciting to me. I love the rush of having deadlines and then meeting them.
I know that people are going to be stressed out from this, but getting the paper done on a Wednesday, allows us (the staff), to go to Orlando without having to worry about how the paper is going to get delivered. Everyone on staff needs to feel good about themselves (including all the writers) for helping out and making this paper so impressive.
You never know, ‘The Colonnade’ could come out twice a week. This could be a good starting point.
I would like to know how you (the readers) feel about the paper coming out twice a week; either email us at colonnade@mail.gcsu.edu, or come by and tell us.
