Jazz combo to spice things up
On Tuesday Oct. 29, Georgia College & State University will be treated to an evening of jazz, brought to us by the GC&SU Jazz Combo.
April Felton (clarinet), Ross Feller (alto, tenor and baritone saxophones), Chris Pou (tenor and alto saxophones), Tim Pietrofere (trumpet), Saeko Hasegawa (piano), Randy Peterson (guitar), Marshall Coats (bass guitar), Jon Joiner (drums) and guest Maureen Horgan (trombone) will be the performers for this free concert. The combo had just performed in the 2002 Free Improvisation Festival in Birmingham, Ala.
The combo will be performing arrangements by some of the great jazz performers.
Charlie Mingus, Carla Bley, John Coltrane, even a piece by composer and philosopher Sun Ra. Multiple numbers by each artist will make the evening varied and entertaining.
This performance shouldn’t be missed by anyone involved with the music program, but it will be loads of fun for anyone who likes jazz, and honestly, how can you not like jazz? So show up at Max Noah Recital Hall in the Porter Fine Arts building next Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 7:30 p.m. for “A Walk on the Wild Side” with GC&SU’s finest musicians.
