Delta Zeta turns 100 years old
The Lambda Pi Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority here at Georgia College & State University celebrated its Centennial year this week.
The sorority celebrated with a week full of celebrations for its 100th year. The most important day is the Special Founders Day held nationwide on Oct. 24. This is the day that the sorority was founded on Miami University’s campus in Oxford, Ohio in 1902. The sorority has over 180,000 alumnae and collegiate members in the United States and Canada.
Alumnae also celebrate with the current active members.
“We have skits that re-enact some of our founding members, and we will also perform some ritual,” said Chrissy Rodgers, junior Delta Zeta member.
The chapter is also planning a Centennial Formal on Oct. 26 that will take place at the Milledgeville Country Club.
“I’m really excited about the formal because it’s black tie and it will be nice to see everyone dressed up in tuxes and formal dresses,” said Rodgers. “There’s nothing semiformal about it.”
The events for the Centennial anniversary are very exciting for all the members of the Delta Zeta sorority.
“It’s a real honor to be a part of the chapter for the 100th year and to be here to celebrate it,” said Rodgers.
