Relationship realities…

Let’s talk about sex.

Besides the obvious differences in the sexes; strength, intelligence, physical build, there is the undeniable difference that sets us apart into our own very distinct classes- gender. No matter how hard you try to find similarities in what men and women want, it is virtually impossible to compare the two species. So what is so different between men and women? And does it all really revolve around sex.

A good friend of mine who happens to be a guy said a most insightful truth, a good portion of major decisions made by a man are done in order to attract a woman to become intimate with her.

Ladies think about this, how many guys do you know go nuts over little things like the type of car they drive, or the clothes they wear, or where they work, or even who they hang out with? In the deep male subconscious, this is all done to attract us. What’s so scary about all this is, it’s absolutely true. A guy who looks great in a pair of jeans driving a Mustang, hanging out with other gorgeous guys is going to grab our attention more, than the guy still in his P.J’s driving the 1968 LeSabre. And we then assume that he will be the guy to, well, fulfill our fantasies.

Now, it would not be fair for me to leave out the female point of view in this debate. It is really very simple. The quality far surpasses the need. Every woman has that one experience that they wish with the hands of time they could change. And let’s be honest, sometimes we are a bit too picky, but the point is guys, that sex for us is not a necessity. Intimacy, now that’s a different story altogether. Women need intimacy, like men need the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. And when we get it, like men, it’s a nice little added bonus to our day.

It all boils down to this, being intimate with someone depends on the person and the type of relationship. Sex is more than the physical no matter how hard we try to deny it. And perhaps with time, we might come to an agreement and understand that even though our needs are different, the connection and emotion is still the same. Remember, nothing beats the comfort of a good man or woman, and that is worth the Battle of the Sexes.
