GC&SU Golf survives weather conditions at PC Intercollegiate
A combination of high winds and rain proved grueling for the Georgia College & State University golf team as they finished eighth out of 18 teams at the 10th Annual Presbyterian College Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
GC&SU carded rounds of 304 and 312 at the 36-hole event to finish with a final score of 616 on the par 72 Musgrove Mill Golf Course.
Senior David Robinson led the Bobcats with two rounds of 75 to finish with a score of 150 and a 13th place tie. Pfeiffer University’s Andrew McArthur was the tournament medalist for the second straight weekend after winning a one-hole playoff against teammate Luke Poulter. McArthur and Poulter ended the tournament tied with even par 144 scores to force the playoff.
GC&SU’s Clay Best finished tied for 25th with a final score of 153 followed by teammate Carter Collins who carded rounds of 75 and 80 to finish tied for 35th. William Gwyn rounded out the top four for the Bobcats with a 160 score and 64th place tie. Brad Davis finished tied for 71st with a final score of 162.
The top two finishers of the tournament, McArthur and Poulter, helped the Pfeifer University Falcons win the tournament with a seven-over-par 583 score. Kennesaw State University and the University of South Carolina at Aiken finished tied for second with scores of 596, while Armstrong Atlantic University finished third at 604.
The Bobcats will enjoy a two-week break before returning to action Friday, Oct. 25 through Oct. 27 at the North Shore/Pfeiffer Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer University in Sneads Ferry, N.C.
