The Pit to open Sept. 23 with new menu items
Tired of losing your parking space between morning, evening or night classes simply, because you’re heading off campus to pick up a bite to eat?
Never fear The Pit is coming back Monday, Sept. 23!
Sodexho is adding finishing touches to The Pit in its new home, directly across from Chick-fil-A and the Ice Box. The Pit’s staff is excited about the new space, and in spite of its delay to the student body, its benefits offset the current inconvenience.
“There were several reasons for The Pit’s relocation, but one of the biggest benefits is that its new home provides additional space. That is, more room for students to lounge and more space to add new varieties to the menu,” said Mike Haun, marketing manager at Sodexho Campus Services.
With the new location are new ideas, a menu lineup and items that,
unlike last year’s menu, are available all day, every day.
“I miss that Spicy Chicken Wrap,” said Tomekia Wilson “But I could only catch it during specific hours.”
Unlike last year’s lineup, more items are included in the regular menu and are served daily. New to the lunch time menu are the double decker club, the chicken cordon bleu, the chicken and cheese quesadillas and the infamous spicy chicken wrap. The lunch and dinner menu has been beefed up to include a variety of vegetable, tomato and chicken soups served in bread bowls, an idea inspired by the Atlanta Bread Company, and baked rather than fried buffalo chicken wings.
Vegetable cups and exotic and traditional salads like Chinese chicken, Greek, chef and garden have been added for the health conscience individual. Pizza and Calzone pizza wraps, deli sandwiches and ham and cheese melts are all favorites of returning students.
Additions to the All Day Breakfast Menu include pancakes and sausage with freshly baked cinnamon buns. Breakfast sandwiches on a variety of breads including Texas Toast, bagels and croissants, omelets ranging from Cajun to Garden to Meat Lover’s style, and cream-filled danishes are traditional favorites.
The Pit prices vary from a $2 grilled cheese sandwich to an $5 value meal of sandwich, chips and drink. Weekly hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
