Club sports underway

FENCING

The first fencing Club meeting will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the Centennial Center at 7:00 p.m. in Room 114. The meeting will be short and the first practice will be held afterwards. Please wear tennis shoes, shorts and a comfortable shirt. For GC&SU students, jackets, masks and weapons will be provided. There are no prerequisites, no experience is necessary, just the desire to learn and enjoy the art of fencing. The program is open for both women & men. The Community Fencing Program provides an opportunity to any one to participate in the fencing club. For the community participants, there will be a small fee and they to register at Continuing Education Center. The GC&SU fencers for both women & men have retained State Intercollegiate Team Championships in the past years. Our Community Fencers have been placed in the top three places in the United States Fencing Association Junior Olympics and Cadet Events. BOWLING

The first short meeting and practice will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at the Baldwin Bowling Center. The GC&SU Bowling Club has been highly successful from its conception in the Division I Intercollegiate level for both women and men. The GC&SU teams have qualified for every national tournament since1994. The GC&SU team has won three individual ACUI Regional Awards. Four female bowlers have received the honor of being All Americans. This is the only Division I Intercollegiate Sport in which young and yet non-tradition students can excel. The GC&SU Bowling Club is a member of the ACUI but is also able to compete on the Division I Intercollegiate Regional and National Level. Anyone interested please come to the first meeting. VOLLEYBALL

The GC&SU men’s and women’s teams have been participating in intercollegiate volleyball competition for three years. The teams compete in tournaments in and out of the state of Ga.
