An afternoon of Chris Hicks

Tuesday afternoon was a lively time on front campus due to the special appearance of the Chris Hicks Band from Macon.
The band came to Georgia College & State University as a request from Mr. David Peck, instructor of Biological and Environmental Sciences.
Instead of having the usual biology class, Peck decided to treat his students to an afternoon of music.
“I decided to take a class vote of whether or not his music affects my students’ psyche,” Peck said.
Students in Peck’s class enjoyed this treat.
“It’s cool,” Chason Carter, freshman, said. “It’s a break from the every day normal class.”
For some students, it was the first time they had ever heard the band play.
“The band plays a lot in Macon, and this is the first time I’ve heard him,” junior Matthew Michael said. “I enjoy the music. He did a lot of covers from James Taylor, and he did some of his original music.”
Peck wanted Chris Hicks to be exposed to GC&SU students.
“We’re trying to bring love, peace and world domination to the school,” Peck said. “I’m trying to catch us up to par with Athens and some of those other schools.”
Peck and Hicks met each other in a nightclub in Macon. Peck said he and Hicks had a good connection. Peck tours with the Chris Hicks band and does the band’s videography.
Hicks is a former guitarist for the Marshall Tucker Band.
