The Voice

It’s that time again, Georgia College & State University students, time to vote on your Student Government Association president.
This person holds a lot of responsibility. Not only do they represent the school, but they represent us, the student body. This critical vote should not be taken lightly, but it should be thought out.
This is not “90210,” and the candidates should not just get the position handed to them like Brandon Walsh.
So, how well do you know the candidates? With only one-week to decide and only flyers on campus to advertise, does all the publicity really speak the truth.
Here at The Colonnade, we wonder if elections should be more like the presidential election? Should we actually hear from the candidates and see what they have done for the school and plan to do so we can make an educated vote?
Shouldn’t students be given the opportunity to actually know who is running and their platforms before we see them next year as president? Will the president focus on school issues, or are they doing this to have something more to put on a resume?
Each year, candidates boast about how well they would represent the school and students, how student orientated they are, the fact that they are a proven leader, and the best person for the job. How do you know whom to vote for?
Let’s talk about who is running. So far, only two people have qualified for president, J.W. Mozley and Keith Woodruff.
What are the big issues facing the school for the 2002-03 school year? Who knows? Does anyone even care?
Get involved people. Hello! Your vote will count; take pride in this school. It will be you alma mater sooner than your think. Each one of you should look into the candidates and vote wisely. Good luck to all candidates. Represent us well.
Today you vote on a representative of yourself and your school; make sure it is the right one.
