A different look at life

When you die or pass away from this earth, how do you want people to remember you?
What do you want to be said in your eulogy?
This past week I have thought about this after attending my grandfather’s funeral. It was an emotional affair, but after nine years of suffering stroke after stroke, his body and mind was ready to go.
As I stood in the greeting line during the family visitation, I was amazed as person after person filed through, sharing stories and talking about how great a man my grandfather was.
It made me wonder what people will say about me at my funeral or what stories would be shared at the visitation.
Have I led my life in such a way that people will say what I hope they would say? Would my life have made a difference?
There are many opportunities at Georgia College & State University that allow individuals to make some kind of an impact. There are clubs, departments and centers that you can look into. All you have to do is get involved, be educated and seek ways that appeal to you to help others. Live and be active. College is a wonderful time to do this.
My favorite quotation has always been, “There are three types of people in this world. Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder “what just happened.”
I have tried to be the person who makes things happen, what about you?
Take a moment to think about what you would what like to be known for. Is there something that you want to contribute?
Is there one thing that you would like to be remembered for? Live your life accordingly.
It is amazing how death can make a person think about things. It sounds clich? but is true. A time of reflection can help set your focus.
Do something today. Ask a friend to attend an event on campus that you usually would not go to. Be a little different. Grow a little more.
Visit the G.I.V.E. Center to see about a community need that you could fulfill. Go to a Student Government Association meeting to see what issues are affecting our campus. Ask questions.
Live your life now and be remembered for it in the future.
