The University Career Center at GC&SU has gone to great lengths to dedicate and commit itself to help meet the needs of the faculty, the alumni and especially the students of this university.
“We have taken dynamic steps to optimize the delivery of career-related services to our students and faculty,” said Harold Jenkins, director of the University Career Center.
More and more people are turning to the Career Center and its staff for their assistance and the wide variety of services that they provide.
“The University Career Center is continually experiencing a ‘Catch-22′ situation, the more faculty and students appreciate the services we provide, the greater the increase in demand for such services,” said Jenkins.
Despite the tremendous demand for their services, the Career Center has managed to keep their staff to a minimum.
“We have a professional staff of one, the Director, and one full-time employee, our department’s Senior Secretary, Ms. Priscilla Hooks. We ask students to please plan ahead in scheduling appointments for assistance,” said Jenkins.
Helping students to prepare to enter the job market is one of the most important goals of the University Career Center. Specialized services and programs are provided to students as soon as they set foot on the campus as freshmen and continue to be offered to them throughout their remaining school careers, as well as alumni.
The following services and programs are of special interest to upper classmen, graduate students and alumni: major employer career fairs assembled every year; personalized job searching support; full coordination of Internship Programs; www.gcsu.edu/career, off-campus full and part-time job announcements to student e-mail addresses via our Internet Mailing List.
The Career Center takes pride in the services it offers students. They are located in 232 Lanier Hall, and are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., from Monday through Friday. For more information please call (478) 445-5384, or visit them at their website www.gcsu.edu/career.
