The “Fall Line Project” returns to GC&SU stage

Special to The Colonnade

Georgia College & State University students and faculty of the Music and Theater Department will bring back an interdisciplinary event that has won acclaim statewide. The Fall Line Project will be presented at 8 p.m., Sunday and Monday March 3 and 4, in Russell Auditorium. General admission is $4; $2 for faculty and senior citizens and $1 for all students.
The Fall Line Project was developed in 2000 by Fulbright scholar Dijana
Milosevic, founder of Yugoslavia’s internationally-acclaimed Dah Teatar, in collaboration with Dr. Walter Bilderback, coordinator of GC&SU theater, and Kora Radella, dance and theater instructor. It was first performed on campus in March of 2001.
Performing in The Fall Line Project are theater performance majors Matt Billings, a sophomore from Monticello; Steve Ford , a senior from Milledgeville; Bryant Jordan, a junior from Sandersville; Nick Thompson, a junior from Milledgeville; and Rebecca Merschat, a senior mass communication major from Macon.
The production revolves around the history of Georgia and explores topics
ranging from Sherman’s march to the sea and lynchings, to Laurel and Hardy, GC&SU, and Milledgeville, Radella said.
Text for the production came from newspapers and books as well as student
writings. Decor was created by Lee Burckes, a senior theater major from Woodstock, and some original ideas for the decor also came from theater student Jared Moore, who graduated last spring. Recorded music relating to Georgia adds to the textual material and the moods of the work, Radella said.
A performance/workshop relating to the project was presented in October of
2001 at the Georgia Theatre Conference. It will be presented this spring at the South Eastern Theatre Conference in Mobile, Ala.
“Due to the excitement generated by our performances in the spring of
2000 and excitement from the student members of the project, we have continued to develop the project under the direction of Kora Radella,” said Bilderback.
