Former coffee house manger convicted of theft

The former manager of Georgia College & State University’s The Cellar was charged with theft after approximately $1,450 was reported stolen.
According to the police report, Robert Applegate, 365 – A Cold Branch Road, was charged for theft by taking over $500.00 which is a felony.
According to Ken Vance, the director of Public Safety, Applegate was also currently on probation for a previous theft in Bibb County. Therefore, he was also charged with violation of probation.
Applegate did admit to the theft, which according to the police report is estimated to be around $1,200 in assorted currency. He was also accused of stealing a total of $250.00 in merchandise, which included 10 cartons of cigarettes at $25.00 each.
According to the police report, “the receipts documenting ‘returns,’ where money was taken from the register, but nothing was in fact returned.”
The new manager is Amanda Eaton. Employees of The Cellar were unable to comment on the current situation concerning Applegates arrest and conviction.
