Good outing for golfers

Over the past weekend, the Georgia College & State University golf team had yet another good tournament, ending any questions as to whether this team is for real or not. In the event, the golfers placed third out of 18 teams.

The tournament, which was held in Sneeds Ferry, North Carolina, was a great success. The North Shore/Pfeiffer Intercollegiate Tournament saw GC&SU’s David Robinson be the low medallist of the event. On the par 72 course, Robinson played great both days, tearing up the golf course after finishing the two-day event with a score of 139. The first day Robinson shot a 71, and things only got better. The second day on the course Robinson played even better and shot a 68.

The winner of the tournament was Pfeiffer University. Pfeiffer won the event with a total of 593. USC Aiken finished right behind Pfeiffer with a two-day score of 594. GC&SU placed third. Ben St. John led Pfeiffer with a two-day total of 143.

Other GC&SU top competitors were Budda Gwyn; he shot a two-day score of 154 after having rounds of 79 and 75. T.J. Gibson tied with Gwyn after also shooting a 154, when he fired two rounds of five over par for a pair 77′s. Brad Davis finished out the top four for the Bobcats when he shot rounds of 79 and 78 for a two-day total of 157.

With such a good weekend for GC&SU golf, things look really good for their next tournament. The Bobcats will be back in action November 4-6 at the Rollins College Intercollegiate Tournament in Winter Park, Florida.
