Stallings off and running

Morgan Stallings is a runner who knows the true value of hard work.

He has been running for nine years, since he was in the seventh grade. As a senior at Woodward Academy, Stallings received All-State honors in cross-country.

He is now entering his third season as a runner for the Georgia College & State University Men’s cross-country team, and he has already left his mark in the record books. As of the beginning of the 2001 season, Stallings currently holds two of the top ten 8k times in school history. As a freshman, he ran what is now GC&SU’s fifth fastest time of 28:34, at the Georgia State Invitational, and was the team’s top finisher. Stallings was also the top finisher for the team in six out of seven meets his freshman year.

When Stallings was asked about his current teammates, he said, “I really look up to the guys I have ran with the past couple of years; we all help keep each other focused.”

He also is very excited to see all the talent the new runners coming in this year have.

Stallings is also a very active person outside of running. He enjoys being outside. Some of his favorite hobbies are mountain biking and camping.

Stallings’s goal for the team this year is for them to improve as a whole.

“I really want everyone to drop their personal best times and to make this a fun, competitive season,” said Stallings.

With Stallings being so focused on the team and the importance of how everybody is running, he needs to be a leader on this team. Not just on the courses but when a teammate needs help practicing, Stallings needs to show some enthusiasm on how important practice is. One thing is for sure, Stallings wants this team to be really good, and he is going to try his best to improve his part as best as he can.
