Multi-Media lab offers help

The Multi-media Technology Laboratory at Georgia College & State University has a lot to offer students, faculty, staff and the community.

The director of the lab is Don Walker, and GC&SU students make up the rest of the staff. The students that work in the lab complete all types of multi-media projects, such as Web design, animation, brochures and more.

“The lab is run by students, and all of the money stays in the lab,” said Walker. “Some of our projects include web design for the Baldwin county government, Lockerly Arboretum, the Milledgeville Center for Visitors Bureau, and even an interactive CD sold for Birthflowers landscape.”

The staff members in the lab are there to help fellow students with multi-media tasks while they learn a few things themselves.

Stephen Hester has been working in the lab for a year and a half.

“I like working in the relaxed atmosphere where I can learn a lot,” Hester said. “On a daily basis I help students with web design, and I work on projects with Don.”

Hester made a special trip to South Dakota to compile a video for the school.

“Don and I just got back from filming a documentary on digital video,” Hester said. “We recorded fossil digging at the Badlands National Park.”

Aldwyn Wayne is currently interning at the lab and has been there since January. At his job he works with many groups, including helping with the website for the Oconee Prevention Resource Council. O.P.R.C. is an organization that holds activities for kids to help keep them out of trouble.

“I have worked on the O.P.R.C. website, and it has been extremely rewarding. I love working with the kids, taking their pictures and talking to them,” Wayne said.

The Multi-Media Technology Laboratory is currently affiliated with the Business Department, but they are more than willing to work with any of the students here on campus.
